Irene Cortina González is a choreographer, dancer, and dance educator from Valencia, Spain, based in Berlin. With a professional education in Contemporary Dance from the Conservatory of Valencia (Spain) and a Bachelor of Dance from ArtEZ University of the Arts (The Netherlands), she has built an international career that bridges performance, creation, and education.

In 2015, she founded Cía. Irene Cortina, together with composer Paul Dill and designer Christin Noel. Rooted between Berlin and Valencia, the company is known for its multidisciplinary language and sensitive expression, where movement, live original music, and visual design merge into immersive stage experiences. Their work has been presented worldwide — from Europe to Israel, Bolivia, and New York — and celebrated in festivals such as Danza Valencia (SP), Baila España (DE), Lucky Trimmer (DE), Performing Arts Festival Berlin (DE), and Fringe Festival (IL). Along the way, the company has earned international awards and recognition for its innovative approach.
Beyond her choreographic practice, Irene is committed to cultural education and artistic exchange. She has performed as a freelance dancer across Europe, co-founded the Berlin-based Let Me In Festival (2015–2020), and since 2017 has led the Dance Department at the State School of Music in Spandau (Berlin), where she also mentors the project “Gesunde Musikschule.”
Her work has been described as “intelligent and full, an experimental assemblage that breathes in sync with the spectator’s gaze” and “an enveloping and stimulating artistic experience… contemporary dance of author, concept, and body.”
At the heart of her artistic vision lies a constant search for new languages, an invitation for audiences to step into spaces where the body, sound, and image transform into immersive, powerful encounters.
